Hampstead in the Community
Hampstead Women, both as a team and as individuals, are keen to help their local communities. Below are just a few of the recent events and challenges that they have undertaken.

Hampstead Women Coach U-14’s, Sunday 21st January 07

Hampstead Women FC proudly support the Maccabi GB Girl’s Football Development Programs – free fundays provided by Maccabi GB to introduce U14 girls to football.

HWFC sent a number of their players and coaches to the session to help with coaching under-6’s and Under-14’s. One girl at the session particularly stood out as a potential future goalie. John arranged for her to come along to an HWFC training session and test her skills alongside the HWFC 1st team, with a view to her joining the squad in the future. “It’s important for Hampstead to find young girls who have the desire and skills to play for us in the future, because we plan to be around for a long time. When we find talent, we want to nurture it”, he said.

Brad was really upbeat about the sessions. “Maccabi are really trying to give young girls the opportunity to play football. These sessions are great and all the girls who attended today showed great skill and ability.”

Michelle Weltman, Maccabi GB’s Director of Youth and Sports Development said, “I would like to thank Hampstead Women FC for coming along today; I know they are keen to support us in the development of our young girls".

Jamie’s Channel Challenge

Hampstead Women’s own dazzling right winger, Jamie Minter-Green took her fancy footwork away from the pitch and into the water in August, when her outragous attempt to swim the Channel, ended in stunning success.

Mermaids for MS is Jamie’s charity initiative. Mermaids will inspire swimming related challenges and land events to raise money for research into Multiple Sclerosis.

You can follow Jamie’s progress in her training for this amazing feat on her Weblog.

To donate to the appeal, go to Jamie's JustGiving page. Remember, it’s for a great cause.

Everyone at HWFC wishes Jamie the best of luck in her challenge. Having witnessed how seriously she’s taking her training, we have no doubt that she’s gonna do fantastically.

AJ’s Marathon Magic

Hampstead’s super speedy left winger AJ will this year run her 4th London Marathon to raise money for the Association for International Cancer Research.

You can follow AJ’s progress on her official Marathon page.

While you’re there, don’t forget to vote for which member of the BBC team you think will do best in the Marathon (obviously AJ hands down!)

Listen to AJ’s Marathon Diary (including an HWFC pre-match biog) and donate to her charity appeal on her JustGiving page.

Everyone at HWFC knows that we don't need to wish AJ luck, as we've witnessed what she can do when her feet hit the street. It's the rest of the BBC team that will need luck to keep up with her!

HWFC Emergency First Aid Training

As part of their club responsibility, various members of HWFC attended an Emergency First Aid course. It involved learning and assessment in many emergency aid disciplines from heart massage and resuscitation, to responsive casualty aid (broken bones, bleeding and shock). In association with St John's Ambulance and the FA, HWFC achieved a 100% pass rate.
